Laboob Sagheer Aphrodisiac!

As 16 tonnes of the herb-based aphrodisiac Laboob Sageer’ has been sold out in two months from a single outlet and as enquiries are pouring in from everywhere, the Laboob Sagheer manufacturer, is left with no stocks now. It is now busy sourcing the raw material and working with 60 personnel day and night to ensure that fresh batches of the product hit the market soon.

Realising that people were being lured into buying fake aphrodisiacs after seeing advertisements by private siddha and ayurveda practitioners who promise cure for erectile dysfunction, the state’s health department launched Laboob Sageer, a Unani product, on April 7. It was also touted as the herbal alternative to Viagra, which could have side-effects.

The Laboob Sagheer ‘herbal Viagra’ is prescribed for those who suffer from nervous weakness, and the normal dose is one teaspoon (15 gram) in halwa form and taken along with milk early in the morning.
Initially, Tampcol had four batches (four tonnes each) of the product in stock. When sale began from the Tampcol outlet on its premises in Arumbakkam in the second week of April, there was just a lukewarm response. But it was just a matter of time before the effect set in. “The sale picked up slowly. By May, a thousand customers were buying Laboob on a daily basis. In June, the sale peaked. On June 10 and 11, over 4,000 men came down to the shop to purchase the product,” says G Ramanathan, marketing manager, Tampcol.

Not just that. Enquiries have also started pouring in from South East Asia, Middle East, Europe and the United States. Within the country, Laboob Sagheer is in the process of finalising orders for the first six months. In the state, Laboob Sagheer, a known herbal brand for three decades, will be distributing Laboob Sageer through its network.
Tampcol’s herbal rejuvenator has badam, akhroot, pista and dry fruits acting on the tone of muscles in nervous system, resulting in the product functioning as an aphrodisiac. There are herbal ingredients also give a soothing effect, say health officials.

“Obviously, the product’s performance is the primary reason for the tremendous response,” says a senior official in the health department. When Tampcol hit upon the idea, the officials never expected such a roaring demand. As the raw materials are exhausted, many have a long wait ahead to get their hands on the energy booster.
